She is now running for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. He has spent the last 20 years uniting teachers, parents, and communities. Richard wants to ensure a safe, modern, and well-equipped school for every child.

Richard Barrera is a dedicated education leader serving as the Superintendent of Public Instruction, bringing decades of experience in public education advocacy, policy, and community organizing to the role. Previously, he served for over fifteen years as a prominent board member for the San Diego Unified School District, where he championed restorative justice practices, universal preschool, and stronger partnerships between schools, labor, and local communities.

Anthony Rendon has spent two decades running preschool and childhood education programs across the state. He is now running for State Superintendent of Public Instruction. His goal is to ensure every child has access to high-quality public education that nurtures academic growth and helps students reach their full potential.
