Ventura County Democrats believe the open and fraud free elections are vital to our democracy. All votes count and all eligible voters should be able to participate in elections without intimidation or restriction.

Statement of Principles
- Strengthen the intent and letter of the Voting Rights Act;
- Support the improvement of voter outreach and education efforts;
- Advocate for extended voting hours and/or days and schedule elections in a way encourages increased participation and reduced interference with the traditional work week;
- Investigate and prosecute voter intimidation and misinformation including false claims in election materials;
- Work to prevent outsourcing of vote counting by private industry;
- Promote robust auditing that verify all votes are counted;
- Stand against unlimited corporate funding of candidates, political parties, and political action committees;
- Advocate for full disclosure of corporate funding in all forms of political advertising; and
- Advocate for a simple majority in both houses of the California legislature to pass revenue- related legislation.
