West County At-Large Delegate - Matty Park
Matty arrived in the U.S. from Holland with her parents when she was 4 and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. She became a U.S. citizen at 10, registered as a Democrat at 21 (before the 26th amendment) and has voted in every election since.
Her interest in government and politics began in the 5th grade when she supported John F Kennedy for President and her teacher made her debate a classmate who supported Richard Nixon. That’s when she realized you need think through your opinions and be able to defend them with facts. After studying engineering at CSUN, Matty spent her career in IT, first as a programmer, then as a systems analyst, as a manager, and finally as a data architect. She has worked in industries as diverse as defense, insurance and banking. A job at Kinko’s headquarters brought her to Ventura. In every election since coming to Ventura Matty has volunteered to register voters, make phone calls, and do everything she can to support our mission of electing more Democrats to local, regional, state, and federal offices. She has been a member of the Democratic Club of Ventura since 2008, chaired its Endorsement Committee, and was its president 2014-2018. She has been a member of the Ventura County Democratic Central Committee since 2010 and served on its Endorsement Committee, Platform Committee, and chaired its Budget and Finance Committee. She is now serving as West County At-Large E-board member. Matty looks forward to electing Joe Biden, flipping the U.S. Senate, and making sure we have a blue wave all across Ventura County in 2020! |
