First Vice Chair - Ryan Valencia
The First Vice Chair is the ranking officer of the Central Committee in the absence or inability of the Chair to act.
Ryan Valencia is a proud native son of his hometown of Simi Valley and its public schools. He often vainly brags that he was voted Mr. Highlander 2012 during his time at Royal High School in Simi Valley. While attending Royal, he began his career in activism after witnessing the electrifying Obama campaign of 2008. By age 16, not really understanding the extent of political parties, he got his first internship with his local Republican state senator. He quickly learned he was not a Republican.
Ryan graduated with his B.A. in International Politics from Penn State University in 2016. During his time in college, he served as President of the Penn State College Democrats and the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Federation of College Democrats. After graduating, Ryan returned to Simi Valley where he now works as a political consultant, specializing in community organizing and field operations. He has worked for Democratic candidates at the local, state, and federal levels.
Furthermore, he is a conservation activist who serves on the Board of Directors for the Central Coast League of Conservation Voters, the Board of Directors of the Simi Valley Historical Society, Rim of the Valley Corridor Coalition, and as Chair of the Simi Valley Conservancy. He is actively advocating for the expansion of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area to protect his community’s natural wonders for generations to come.
As 1st Vice Chair of the Ventura County Democratic Party, Ryan chairs the Fundraising Committee and has placed a special emphasis on rebuilding the grassroots of the party. In addition to his involvement with the county party, he serves on the Executive Board of the Simi Valley Democratic Club and as a delegate to the California Democratic Party.
In his free time, Ryan is an avid backpacker and outdoorsman.
